When to Book Planning a first birthday session? 🎂 For the best timing, I recommend scheduling your session when your baby is 10–11 months old, especially if you'd like your finished images for birthday invitations, party décor, or their big day. Because every cake smash is custom designed and styled, booking at least 4–6 weeks in advance is recommended to allow time for planning your theme, cake, and details.

Cake Smash Session FAQs
Cake smash sessions are best scheduled when your baby is 10–11 months old so your finished images are ready in time for their first birthday.
Do you provide outfits, props, and backdrops?
Yes! All backdrops, props, and themed setups are provided. I also offer a curated First Birthday Client Closet with outfit options for both girls and boys. You’re welcome to choose from available studio outfits or bring your own!
How long does a cake smash session last?
Sessions typically last 45–60 minutes, depending on your package and your baby’s comfort.
Do I get to choose my photos?
Yes! After your session, you’ll receive a soft proof gallery to select the images included with your package.
RAW or unedited images are not released.
What if my baby doesn’t like the cake?
Every baby reacts differently, and that’s part of the fun! I capture a variety of expressions, and we always take beautiful portraits before the cake smash begins. I recommend letting your baby try cake or frosting at home beforehand so they’re familiar with the texture.
Is the cake included?
Yes! A custom cake is included with cake smash packages as long as there are no food allergies or dietary restrictions. If your child has an allergy or dietary restriction, you’ll need to provide the cake.
Are family or sibling photos included?
First birthday and cake smash packages are baby-focused. Family and sibling portraits are not included. A family portrait add-on is available for $150 and includes 5 additional edited images.
Where do sessions take place?
All first birthday and cake smash sessions take place in my private studio in East Patchogue, Long Island, NY.
How do I reserve my date?
A signed contract and $50 non-refundable retainer are required to officially reserve your session date.

What an amazing experience! Jennifer is so down to earth and professional and was great with my daughter. It was a very smooth session and i did not feel rushed at all, in fact Jennifer kept suggesting more poses and pictures! I didn’t give her much guidance on a theme for my photo shoot and she nailed it on the head. Her studio is so cute and full of any baby prop or outfit you can think of. I haven’t even seen my photos yet and I'm already leaving her a five start review! I will definitely be back 🩵
